Infection prevention
The plastic polymer in the NEST® Mattress core material has inherent microbiocidal properties which mean that bacteria are less likely to accumulate on the fibres and risk cross-infection
Machine washable
Both the cover and the core of the NEST® Mattress can be washed in a commercial washing machine, and the core can be chemically or thermally disinfected at elevated temperatures. The open structure of the core material means that it dries quickly as well.
Reusable
The fact that the NEST® Mattress can be readily washed and decontaminated means that it can be safely used between patients and providing cost savings of not needing to dispose of the mattress after use
Weight limit
The user weight limit is 240 kg which makes the NEST® Mattress suitable for a whole range of sizes of patients
Recyclable
The core material of the NEST® Mattress at the end of life can be chopped into small pieces and recycled into new plastic materials, thereby avoiding the need to dispose of the mattress at end of life e.g. to landfill
Sustainability
The ability to reuse the NEST® Mattress between patients and for many years, as well as the recyclability of the core material means that the NEST® Mattress meets institutions’ sustainability targets
